Welcome to Shelton!!!!

This welcome is two-fold...welcome to the Shelton community and welcome to the community web site.  We're more than glad to have you with us.
About the community...Shelton's heritage dates to the Oregon and Mormon Trail days.  Both are within a stone's throw of Shelton.  In fact, the original town was a settlement of Mormons on their way to the western "paradise."  They knew a good thing when they saw it...the "paradise" of Shelton.  We boast of one of the few places in the United States with a street made of the original bricks from the Lincoln Highway.  Historical heritage, we have.  Along with that we're proud of the fact that we have a very low crime rate.  We enjoy the peace and contentment of a small town and everybody knows everybody, which means we look out for and care for each other...commodities that tend to be lacking these days.
Lest you think that our heads are in the sand--think again.  As a hub, Shelton is just four miles from I-80, has U.S. Highway 30 running through its heart, and is located not more than 30 miles from three bigger towns (...to us anyway!) of more than 25,000 people apiece, each with an airport and everything.  Shelton shares Union Pacific space with two of those (Kearney and Grand Island), and is close to Hastings with their link to the Burlington line.
Shelton can offer the usual array of small-town churches, a well-reputed K-12 school system, a fantastic pool/park complex (the crown jewel during summer months), and a compatible blend of the young and the old when it comes to opportunities for business, employment, and housing.
Well, enough of that.  Now, to the web site.  Welcome again!!  It's no different than most others, except ours is better!  Use it to get to know us, to learn of our history, to see what we have to offer, and to take a leisurely virtual stroll into and through Shelton.
We Sheltonites are a proud lot, only because they have much of which to be proud.  Come join us and we'll show you...in person or on this site..  Again, WELCOME TO SHELTON!!!

 Village Board Chairman.
